Appointments System

All consultations are by appointment and can be booked in person or over the telephone, or on-line.

Urgent appointments are seen on the day.   If you request an urgent appointment you will be asked to supply details of the urgency to the receptionist who will complete a triage form which will be passed to the doctor on duty.

Please note that appointments are generally for one person only. If another member of the family needs to be seen then try and advise us when booking and we can allow more time.

Practice Nurses

In a number of cases it might be worth considering an appointment with a practice nurse rather than a doctor. Practice nurses are qualified to deal with many conditions and you may be seen more quickly.

Telephone Consultations

If you just want advice over the telephone please call and leave details and a contact number with reception. You can normally expect a call back from a doctor after surgery has finished. Our nurses are also available for telephone advice and will normally call you back the same day.

Home Visits

Whilst we encourage our patients to come to the surgery, where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible. In this respect, if you do need a home visit, you can help us by calling reception before 10:00.

You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed. Please bear this in mind and be prepared to provide suitable details to enable the doctor to schedule house calls

You can also be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.

Extended Hours (Evening & Weekend Appointments)

Green Lane & Sheldon Surgery, as part of the North Solihull Collaborative, provides additional appointments for GPs, Nurses, ANP's & HCA's at Bosworth Medical Centre, Chelmsley Wood B37 5BU. These appointments are pre-bookable through your GP Practice. 

Appointment Times:

  • Monday - Friday: 18:30 - 20:00
  • Saturday: 09:00 - 17:00

Chaperones

All patients are entitled to have a chaperone present for any consultation, examination or procedure where they feel one is required. Sometimes you may wish to be accompanied by  a family member or friend. At other times you may wish to have a formal chaperone present ie a female member of our clinical team, though at busy times the chaperone may be a member of our support team.

Wherever possible please make this request at the time of booking your appointment, so that we can make the necessary arrangements. Whilst we will always do our best to provide a chaperone if requested, this may not always be possible which may result in re-scheduling your appointment for a time when a chaperone can be present.

Your healthcare professional may also require a chaperone to be present, for certain consultations, in accordance with our chaperone policy.

Cancel an Appointment

It is important that you inform the reception staff if you are unable to attend your appointment, this will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient. If you fail to notify the Practice that you are unable to attend, you will be sent a letter informing you that you have defaulted from your appointment. Persistent defaulters maybe removed from the list.

You can also complete our appointment cancellation notification request form. This can only be used if your appointment has been arranged for more than 24 hours in advance. (excluding weekends and public holidays). You can also text to cancel your appointment.

Text Reminder Service

We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.

To have this service you will need to register by completing a consent form.

Please remember to update your contact details with us when you change address, telephone numbers and email address.
